The year 1947 marks a Golden Era in the annals of our country. That was the year We attained "SWARAJYA". We had the good fortune of being guided by a galaxy of leaders from Bala Gangadar Tilak to Lal Bahadur Sastri. Afterwards the political and social life of our nation has begun to fall from the high standard set by our Saints, Seers and the National leaders.
With a view to contribute their mite to arrest this negative trend and to work towards the establishment of noble ideals in our younger generation; the Elite of Salem founded "Sri Vidya Mandir Association", as an instrument to run educational institution and train the younger generation to imbibe the nobler values, our great nation 'Bharat' has stood for.
Started in the year 1969, with a small strength of 17 in our School at Shevapet, the Sri Vidya Mandir Family has grown into a BIG BANYAN with a total enrolment of 7000 boys and girls in their most impressionable age. Sri Vidya Mandir Group of Schools mould them successfully as integrated personalities and present them to our Nation, ably guided by our 300 teachers and 80 enlightened members of the community, forming the Esteemed Management.
Sri Vidya Mandir Association was seen to spread its educational services to rural areas also. So it has decided to open nursery schools at kondalampatty and Ayodhiyapattnam which are on the outskirsts of Salem Town. Sri B. Natarajan, membra', Sri Vidya Mandir Kondalampatti School Committee came forward to give his buildings free of rent for our school.
At this premises kondalampatty school was inaugurated by Sri K.C. Jain, Vice-Chairman, Sri Vidya Mandir Association under the presidentship of Sri VJC Govindarajan, Chairman Panchayat Union, Kondalampatty on 22-6-86. Later on a land of about 50,000Sq.ft. situated on the National Highways, Kondalampatty was taken on long lease from Sri N.K. Krishnaswamy Chettiar, Kondalampatty. His Holiness Sri Sri Jagadguru Bharathi Theertha Swamigal Sarada Peetam, Sringeri laid foundation with blessings on 6-1 -88.
Under the sponsorship of Sri A.N. Srinivasa Gupta, Kumbakonam Jewelers, a beautiful building was constructed with 10th class rooms. At the opening ceremony of the new building, Smt Manjula Adinarayanan lighted the kuthuvilaku. Sri K.V. Radhakrishna Chettiar, Narasu's Coffee Co., Salem declared open the new building under the president-ship of Sri Srinivasa Gupta, Patron, Sri Vidya Mandir Association on 31.8.88. Today the school is fully grown as a Secondary level.
